Transunion-637/Equifax 556/Experian-656 I moved to South Korea about a year ago, and incurred some charge offs during the move for financial reasons, however starting about last December I have been an "A" student and paying everything on time. I did pay some accounts on time during my difficulties, so everything did not go completely to pot. First of all, I would like to know how my Equifax being so low is going to affect me. I plan to move back to the US in a year or two. I have maintained an American address at my Mother's house while I'm over here, but that will change when I come back. Will this immediately ding my credit? Also, should I pay off those accounts that were charged off? Is this going to help me much in terms of getting a car loan in the future or do I just need to fly right from now on? Sorry for all the questions, I miss the US and would like to restart my life there, but think I need to wait until I get everything in order. If you are knowledgeabl I'd like to hear any opinions you may have on these matters.

I hope they're FICO being I got them on this websiteWhile I don't have the cash at the moment, I could certainly pay off the collections (all of which are with CA) within the year. The only problem with this is that would reduce my savings fairly significantly, although if I could get my score to 700 within two years it would likely be worth it.
Being I'm in Korea and my mother isn't great with forwarding things on to me, doing things by mail is going to be difficult. Is it ok to call these collectors or is that a complete no-no?
I should add that I will be getting married soon to a Korean national who has about 100,000 USD in liquid savings. Could she get a mortgage or car loan without any US credit history by simply showing her bank statement or is she going to need to plunk down a huge downpayment because of my bad credit history? Thanks for the replies. David
