Hello all,
I've been checking my quarterly 3B reports( a little early) and I noticed that the scores from Equifax are way off. The MF and EQ scores are from today (5/13) while the EX scores are from 5/9.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me why the scores from Equifax are so off compared to MyFICO and Experian/CCT. It's like EQ is looking at data from last year.

Equifax
The pulls from CCT and Myfico are identical, just listed in a different order. They would both be fico 08 scores. The ones from Equifax are probably not fico 08 scores, likely vantage 3.0 or maybe even a propriatary score. If the fico scores are pulled on the same day, and same time of day, they will always be identical. There is really no reason to pull from both Myfico and CCT on the same day. I think I read before that buying scores from equifax does not get you fico 08 scores. Now as to why the fico 08 scores differ at the 3 major credit reporting agencies, that is likely due to some info being different. Inqueries will only show up where they are pulled when you applied for credit. Lenders do not always report to all 3 agencies either. There can also be discepencies as to when the data was pulled within the credit reporting agencies to generate the score. A full report could help you see what is different at the 3, and dispute anything that is in error. Some may drop off some derogatory info before others as well. It must be taken off within the legal time frame, but some drop it off several months early. The scores you got from equifax are probably useless, but CCT and Myfico are both fico 8 scores. Fico 8 scores are the most widely used scores by lenders, except for mortgages which if memory serves me is fico 2, 4, and 5 but I am not sure without going to myfico reports additional reported scores. The following is in the fine print at equifax site.
The Equifax® Credit Score and 3-Bureau credit scores are each based on the Equifax Credit Score model, but calculated using the information in your Equifax, Experian and TransUnion credit files. Third parties use many different types of credit scores and will not use the Equifax Credit Score or Equifax 3-Bureau credit scores to assess your creditworthiness.
$4.95 for the first 30 days, then $19.95 per month. Cancel at any time; no partial month refunds.3
It appears as though they use the Equifax Credit Score Model, which I believe is a propriatary scoring model, that no lenders actually will pull. All that means is you wasted any money you pay for that score.
You're comparing apples and oranges.
The scores provided by MyFICO and Experian are calculated based on the FICO 8 scoring model. However, the scores provided by Equifax are calculated based on their own proprietary scoring model, which was not developed by FICO. Even a cursory glance at Equifax's website makes it clear that their scores are not FICO scores:
"The Equifax® Credit Score and 3-Bureau credit scores are based on the Equifax Credit Score model. Third parties use many different types of credit scores and will not use the Equifax Credit Score or 3-Bureau credit scores to assess your creditworthiness."
The only similarity between Equifax Credit Score and FICO-based scores appears to be that they go up to 850.

You're correct. Equifax does not provide its FICO 8 scores directly to consumers; it can only be accessed through purchase from third-party providers like Experian and MyFICO. Of course some financial institutions, most notably credit unions, provide monthly FICO scores derived from Equifax data but those are not real-time scores..

Not completely true....Langley Federal Credit Union does provide an up to date fico 08 score from an equifax pull to members with a checking account or/and savings account. It is why I joined, and to the best of my knowledge that is the only place to get it free every month.

By up to date I mean it will show you the date pulled, but might have been a few days before it posts on the website, certainly less than a week. It may be true that it did not show my May 04 pull exactly on May 04, but I think I updated my scores about a week ago, so it is fairly current.

Unless Langley Federal Credit Union refreshes your EQ FICO 8 score daily my point stands. Consumers cannot get a real-time, on-demand EQ FICO 8 score directly from Equifax.

I ordered the CCT report on 5/9 ($1 trial). I ordered the EQ 3B report on 5/13 because I thought a milestone would be reached on the 12th(no such luck). When I saw the EQ numbers, I panicked and ordered the MF report earlier than planned.

After seeing the MF scores, I kind of suspected that was the case. I guess I just needed to confirm here on MyFICO. So basically Equifax is trash with regard to scores. Thats good to know. I was pissed, shocked, and worried when I saw that report.

No real money lost since the CCT and EQ scores only cost me a $1 each. I do the MF 3B scores twice a year.
Thanks for the reply @sarge12

Agreed, but to the best of my knowledge, even the credit card issuers posting of credit scores will have a pull date that is a few days before the post shows on the website. In my opinion though, a score that was pulled less than a week earlier is, or at least should be soon enough. Equifax is definately the hardest to obtain for free. If you have a discover credit card you can get transunion there, and experian is available free to everyone both at usa.esperian.com or creditscorecard.com. Langley is the only place I found that provides equifax for free, which I found out about here in these forums. If someone needs an instantly current score, they likely have bigger problems. My scores change very little even in 3 months.
