I'd be interested to know the outcome of this, as they just placed a hard pull on my credit and I have no outstanding accounts.  Going to send out the letter on Monday. And WILL get a lawyer (friend) to send them a letter if I have to.
 
Any results since your last post???

A lendor may do a hard pull, even without your prior authorization.  It is called a "permissable pull."
 
Under section 604(f) of the FCRA, a permissable credit pull may be initiated if the requestor:
 
"otherwise has a legitimate business need for the information

(i) in connection with a business transaction that is initiated by the

consumer; or

(ii) to review an account to determine whether the consumer continues to

meet the terms of the account."

I understand that. Happens with several of my accounts. Also, I do this with the accounts that I manage at work. But this entity is not associated with any of mine.
