NCO collection letter-help what to do.

I posted earler about NCO hard INQ on my wifes CR.
We are in the process of bying a home with a chance they will pull her CR again during the process.
We still didn't lock our morgage, so we are wondering what to do.
It's the 1993 CC, that fell of her CR in 2000.
We are in OH.

My wife got a letter from NCO that states following-
"Your account is purchsed bt the NCO........

........We are attempting to validate that above info(creditor name;balance......).
We are trying to validate that above info is correct......
...If the info is incorrect, please contact us. If the info is correct, please contact us to disscus payment options.........
.......Unless you notify this office within 30 days after reciving this notice that you dispute validity of debt or any portion thereof, this office will asume the dept is valid. If you notify this office within 30 days from reciving this notice, this office will obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of a jugment and mail you a copy of such a judgment or verification. If you request this office in writing within 30 days after reciving this notice, this office will provde you with the name and adress of the original creditor, if diffrent from current creditor......"

What should we do?

Thank you!

I would sent and C&D letter and also call them and tell them it has past the SOL and if they continue to hound you, you will take action against them. They will back down.

Re: NCO collection letter-help what to do.

Thank you all for you anwers.
My wife did got similar letter from other company regarding some other account opened the sam year 1993.
She did not do anything and nothing happend.
So you defenetly thing I should send DV letter VS doing noting.

Morgage company claims that when we lock, they won't pull CR one more time when house is bulid.
You guys said  they do not have right to report this on her report?

What is ".....DV/Limited CD letters out CMRRR...."

Thank you all!

..don't what....?
Plase finish. Smiley Happy

Nothing is on her CR, exept two HARD INQ on TU.

So when you say ignore, that means do not send DV letter at all.
When you say dispute, than means send them a letter saying this is not hers.

SO-
A) Ignore
B)dIspute
C)DV letter

I'm afraid if you dispute it, and the CRA can validate it, it will start the date all over again??? Anybody please correct me if I'm wrong. If anything, I would definently check out the SOL in your state....they may be crossing the lines here!!

I wouldn't ignore.  Ignoring things is a recipe for trouble.  I would DV via CMRRR and then dispute after you know they have received the DV letter.

Re: NCO collection letter-help what to do.

Disputing a debt does not start the date all over again.   I believe (from reading Noah's wise posts) that the SOL also does not limit a CA's ability to collect on a debt, it only means it's outside of the amount of time in which they can sue you to collect the debt.   If you owe someone they can try to collect no matter how old the debt is.  Of course they have to follow the laws in their collection efforts.
