NCTUE- Very Wrong Address on File?

Apologies, I’m kind of freaked out and not sure what to do…

My credit has been frozen with the big 3 + Innovis for years now, even before the whole Equifax breach situation (which I was notified I was part of, ugh).

I recently received an unsolicited debit/prepaid card by some online bank in the mail. I reported it to the FTC and got the bank to close the account. Being a bit paranoid, I checked my credit reports and nothing is a miss and everything is still frozen. Also checked Chexsystems- all good. In doing some research online, I saw it was also recommended to freeze your NCTUE record, which I hadn’t even heard of before, but decided it might be worth it due to the debit card issue. I input my info on their website (name, SSN, current address) and it populated a PDF confirmation with my PIN (I guess in lieu of mailing it out).

I didn’t notice it at first, but when I went to print the PDF for my records, the address they put on the confirmation is not the one I submitted and is not mine. Like, not even close. I’ve lived my entire life on the east coast, and the address they associated with me is in California. I googled the address and it’s an apartment in some luxury gated complex. I know that my name isn’t unique so there are probably people with my name living in CA, so it could be a mix up?

I’m not sure what to do now. I want to order a report to check the accuracy (and see if anyone is opening up cell phones or utilities in my name), but if the address listed on the report is not mine, I’m not sure I’d even get it? Has anyone ever had this issue with NCTUE before? Should I dispute it? Report it to the FTC? Thanks!

I would inform this CRA that you have never lived there and want it removed from your file and/or in association with you. Welcome to the board Smiley Happy

Re: NCTUE- Very Wrong Address on File?

Send them a letter CMRR that you're opening up a dispute along with a) a copy of the disclosure report you received, b) the filled-out part of the research request form that should have been included with the disclosure report,  c) a copy of one of your utility bills with your correct name and current address, and d) a cover letter.  In the cover letter explain that you're opening up a dispute due to multiple errors in the file they provided you and that you have included a copy of a current/recent utility bill with your correct name and current address.

Sending the letter CMRR provides date-validated evidence that you did contact them.
