NEW!! PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Hello everyone....so glad I found this place, as I am down to about 4 strands of hair left on my head. Just kidding....but being a newbie, I am feeling a little overwhelmed! Here's what I got, and any inputs would be greatly appreciated. I've pulled all three of my reports, and was very surprised that they are all so different...especially the scores. Here are my current scores: Equifax- 482
                                                                                                            Experian-525
                                                                                                            Transunion-639

I know I've got alot of work to do, just don't know where to really start. Here's what I've got on my Equifax report. As far as collections, I have 4 PAID medical collections, and one from 2005 in the amount of 356.00. Should I send GW letters to the paid ones? And do I send them to the actual creditor or the collection agency??

On my credit accounts, I have a Capital One card back from 2002 that  shows paid but also shows charged off. On another report,it shows that it was paid as a settlement, meaning that I did not pay the balance in full. That is incorrect. The account was turned over to Arrow financial, and I paid the balance to them, which was 614.50. I paid this on 12/29/2004. It was never my understanding that this was going to be a "settlement offer". What can I do about this? I have more questions, but don't want to overwhelm anyone.....

Re: NEW!! PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Welcome.
At the top of the forum are some important links.  There's some very knowledgable people who will be replying to your link (no doubt there).  Welcome.

Sounds like there are many errors on your reports that you will need to learn how to dispute.  You'll also learn how to maximize your FICO score and what steps you can take to do so.  You'll also learn how to set a long term plan to keep growing your score.

From what you've shared, I think you will be very pleased in a few months how much your scores have improved with effort and persistence on your part.
Regards,

Re: NEW!! PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Try reading some of the stickies (the links at the top of the forum).  They contain a great deal of help on what to do.

If you are still stuck, post away with more questions!!!

Re: NEW!! PLEASE PLEASE HELP

the first thing you should do is dispute any and everything that is inaccurate.    all three CRA's have pretty simple dispute sections.

Re: NEW!! PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Done that already (disputed....Equifax has been updated...still wating on the other 2)....have had 3 old addresses removed from one and got three collections upgraded as paid.....they were paid a long time ago, but the CRA never updated them. I have also "opt out" as far as receiving any new offers....
