My husband and I joined NFCU 9 days ago and both got approved for the cash rewards credit card - $3300 SL and $3000 SL
My husband applied (jointly with him as primary) for the NavCheck at the same time, and it has said "Review in Process" for 9 days, but he just called and they said it is declined and they have no other information. He asked for the full 15k when he applied. Should he try to get them to recon for a lower amount or try again without me on it as joint? Or should we just wait and try again next year when our credit is better? Will recon or reapplying be another HP?
Our goal is really just to build a relationship with them before applying for a mortgage next year, though we also hope the limits on these two new Visas will grow enough to become our primary cards.

Send them a secured message and ask for the reconsideration. I wouldn't necessarily ask for a specific amount but say that yore looking to get in and establish the line and you're willing to take whatever amount they see fit if they can approve you. Good luck.

Done. Thank you for helping me word it.
just re-apply with asking for $500. they seem to give that out and then in a few months after a cli on credit card you can probably easily go to $15k on the navcheck.

I was hoping you'd weigh in. I'll do that, thank you.
I was also denied for the 15k navchek so when I called for a recon they advised me to re apply for a smaller amount. I applied for $500, it went into review and a couple of hours later I got an email and text stating I was approved and my documents would be mailed to my address on file. They used the same hp from my first application so go for it!!
Ok, I reapplied for just $500, and it went under review. They sent an email tonight and said my loan is approved, though it still says "review in progress" on the website.
The email says they are mailing me a promisory note to sign and "Funds are disbursed via the method chosen during your application process." This is the NavCheck/Checking Line of Credit, though, so I assume no funds will actually be disbursed. That wording is a little confusing.
Thank you for the advice, everyone. I did not get another HP, so this worked out great. I am very happy to start with 500 and work up to the 15k. I'm really excited about NFCU.
That's excellent news!! At least you have your foot in the door with Navchek, give it some time and it will grow with you!!
