National Tenant Network

I just spoke to the rudest woman on the face of the planet.

In our efforts to clean every report out there on us I called the National Tenant Network to find out how to obtain a report from them.  The moment she realized I was a consumer her tone changed and she got down right rude.

She stated that they simply compile the three bureaus reports, plus pull public record from the courthouses, and so all of the information is available to me through those avenues.  I asked if there was any information that they owned in their own network that I could not find through those public avenues, and she stated that if a landloard or complex is a member of the network, and I have leased from them, all of my information (lease amounts, payment history, cleanliness reports) are stored with them and that it is not avaialble to me for my own viewing.

Isn't that wrong?  If someone has collected information on me in order to determine my worthiness aren't I supposed to have access to it?  I am seriously confused.  The home we live in now is owned by my mother, and she is in foreclosure, so we have to move soon.  I need to know if there is anything on our tenant screening before i go into apt complexes or to private landlords.

I live my life like I type, fast and with a lot of mistakes.
Spacebar broken. Watch for finger.

Re: National Tenant Network

National Tenant Network is what's termed a "nationwide specialty consumer reporting agency" in accordance with §603(w) of the FCRA.

They have to comply with the FCRA just like EX, EQ and TU--that includes free annual disclosures to the consumer.

It just so happens that another §603(w) agency, First Advantage SafeRent, just settled for $100K with the FTC.

You might wanna send 'em a written request for a free annual copy of your credit report in accordance with the FCRA. Include a printed copy of the FTC press release.
