I think you're taking it way too personally. I would also like to know what CU you think has better service since literally every CU and bank is being inundated with calls right now because of the stimulus situation. NFCU is consistently rated at the very top right up with USAA for customer/member satisfaction and my experiences with other credit unions have been....... let's just say disappointing so I don't get myself in trouble. Is NFCU perfect? No, they're not. They don't have as many problems as other CUs though. I've had problems with PenFed and BECU that actually resulted in me not even becoming a member because I was so annoyed; AOD, Ent, DCU, Service, Alliant, SSFCU and Langley are all way more conservative than NFCU; AOD, DCU, SSFCU, and Langley all have dated tech that can be very frustrating at times; none of my other CUs offer the service I have gotten from NFCU (AOD may but I haven't actually called them enough to find out, Service is actually pretty good but DCU and Alliant are abysmally bad); Ent is meh across the board - nothing bad but nothing special either.
I hope that you find the perfect CU - and when you do, please let me know because I haven't found that one either.

I do get your drift @Anonymous
No matter. My current credit unions BEFORE this recent change in navy, have proven themselves dedicated and are solid as granite stone. A family has to receive equal devotion and there are those (now few) who make provisions to maintain customer loyalty in spite of the worse of circumstances and believe you me they will keep that trust and have it return.
Its just disgusting to see NFCU which once a bulwark stumble and scramble to not live up to the great expectations they was once well known for.
Can they regain that prominence again? Time will tell but i've moved on now to more stable CU's that are rising to contend and meet today's challenges. Dishing out high lines to customers who all they ever post about is getting one of their Big limits for balance transfers which is proof positive people are scrambling to unload overdebt on to them because they are easy. But soon that easy grab is going to catch up to them and likely in a way of default or worse.
Approving derogs and collections with high lines is a sure sign they (NFCU) are carrying a hefty load of RISK alone.
Beats me but i wont never waste another HP on a FI like Navy (3 so far) with my long 100% perfect 130 months consecutive consistent payment history and i doubt ever reached 20% utility on any of their cards THEN pif, and certainty not at the extent you can read others who routinely do at far higher only to look for another BT from a different lender to keep their balance jumping from one to another.
Having been with them as long as i have it's disconcerting they will dish out high lines to subprime customers but shun solid, long term and time tested customers with either outright denial or peanut SL's. Its completely obvious anymore.
If I read correctly elsewhere, didn't you declare bankruptcy within the last year?
If so, it has been stated numerous times that You have to be at least a year out from BK to be considered for new credit?
As with every financial institution, they look at your ENTIRE credit history... not just the credit history with them. If you declared bankruptcy within the last year and are already trying to rack up monster limits, that would seem like you are headed for trouble again... at least from An actuarial perspective which is what they base their decisions on.
And if the worst example of "bad customer experience" is an occasional bad hold time due to an even that happens EXTREMELY rarely due to a pandemic, I guess you must not have to deal with the likes of synchrony, comenity, or citi where their customer service is abysmal. So consider yourself fortunate to lead such a charmed life in that respect.
I, too, will look forward to what CU you find that checks all the boxes for you! Best of luck and sending positive application vibes your way!

It;s like having a close trusted sibling one day wake up and out of the blue tell you that your ugly and useless. And mean it. Tee Hee
No matter i already am accepted into a pair of new CU's that look to be very suitable replacements. Had a call already this morning with spree polite interest and understanding. I been a government clearance freight hauler (box not 18 wheeler) and just like my 130 months 100% late free-loading/delivery and now derog free record, there's that milestone which is my inspiration.
One door closes another opens better. I'm a World War 2 baby (God Bless my WW2 neighbors, family, and even starngers) so i see very clearly which side the bread is buttered on. Not naive at all but no pushover either.
Congratulations on the new CUs. Mind sharing which ones?
I'm only a Korean War baby so not quite as old as you but always interested in hearing about other options out there... you can never have too many options! (I've learned that the hard way!)
I must have been confused about your having decalared BK if you are derogatory-free. If that's the case, the credit world is your oyster!
Cheers!

It's been 1y1mo since CM7's BK according to the PenFed approval posted earlier this month.
Op, what about a 1 yr old ch 7 is perfect history? Do you feel navy owes you something?

No one hated more than i to have had to resort to the inevitable after such a very successful over 10 years run of fantastic success. So uh yeah, that really bites trying to climb up out the barrel so to speak. On a lighter note fortune or should i say momentum has helped elevate matters enough to lay out a fairly respectable redo so far,
This is totally new territory and not even the best herculean efforts can change that, only time. And that's going to entail YEARS if i can last that long. But i'm sure going to give it everything i got to at least reach some common ground from which to make every climb of the ladder count.
Thanks for the insight and even the negative connotations. Big boy now and gotta take the licks as they come and keep pressing on.
Navy might one day surprise me as they have others but even NFCU is caught in the trap of this pandemic ordeal and must try to maintain their own relevance from the blow it's laid on them too.
