Necessary?

Will someone answer this for me please?

Current auto loan-never late

Current 5/3 Bank SCC- $300 limit <10% utilization

Fingerhut Fresh Start $180 limit-never used

*should I start using Fingerhut to boost scores?

Thanks

Re: Necessary?

It's probably a good idea to use any account you have to some extent.  I know very little about Fingerhut, but a number of people seem to use it in rebuilding.  My feeling is that it's your account, so do your own research on it, develop a plan to spend a comparatively small amount of money to buy things you really want or need.  Minimize any interest or fees.  For example, with the SCC always pay in full and keep your utilization < 9%. After several months of activity with both cards, you'll be ready to pay Fingerhut down to zero and the SCC down to 5% or so.  Your score will go up the next month and you can try adding a much better card than you have.

Eventually you'd four nice credit cards.  That plus an installment loan (e.g. your car loan) will be fine.  Then just keep your head down and pay your bills and keep your debt low.

Re: Necessary?

in your shoes, if i subscribe to something like hulu, netflix..or in my case my cheap dsl is about 15~

I would put that on the fingerhut and make fingerhut on autopay with my bank.

Just let the statements cut with the small % of utilization and let the history grow.

continue to use your other card responsibly, keeping that utilization the way you are now--low.

keep paying the auto loan on time.

in a few months, check sites like chase, amex..that has pretty accurate pre qual links..and than see if you can open a third line, that is more prime.
