Hi Myfico Members.
Today I received a few alerts from all 3 CRA regarding an inquiry for a mortgage.
I applied for a mortgage back in Oct 2013 and have already closed on my home and since then have NOT applied for anything thats mortgage related.
I know this isnt regading credit cards but this side of the forum is more visited and I hope somone can help me out on what I should do. Im not that concerned about the inquiry but more concerned about the possibility of identity theft.
What should I do?
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You...
Who is the inquiry from, and have you ever done business with them in the past?
Possibility of identity theft I was thinking the same thing I would call the mortgage company and see what they say and then possibly FREEZE your 3 reports
The inquiry shows its from CREDCO.
When I pulled my full report from EX no numbers were listed. Luckily, it has one on my EQ report and will be calling them.
I REALLY HOPE THIS ISNT IDENTITY THEFT
. Ive been trying so hard and stayed patient with brining up my credit to where it is today...
I just got off the phone w/ CREDCO and was notified that the one who requested my report is QUALITY PROFESSIONALS INC.
Have you guys ever heard of this company?
I plan to call them but visited the site and saw this:
"Quality Professionals, Inc. is a post-funding audit company for the mortgage banking industry. Quality Professionals, Inc. will perform the quality control function to meet the requirements of HUD, VA, FNMA, FHLMC, Federal Regulatory Agencies, institutional investors, private mortgage insurance and the Department of Real Estate. With Quality Professionals, Inc. as your outsource partner, there is never any question of internal compromising of your quality control audit findings."
It's possible that among the many, many papers you signed... One of them was an authorization for a third party auditor to conduct a review and probably you authorized them to pull a HP. I don't know, but probably not a bad guess.
seems like someone was a bit late to do their job... this was probably suppose to be done before you reached the closing table!
I would kind of be pissed if you closed in Oct. did you say and they pulled today in Feb.?? Id call "Quality Professionals" up and ask them nicely to remove the INQ or you will ask them not nicely ![]()
Post-funding audit... done after closing.
Thanks for all the responses so far.... Im very grateful too all the people who are always so helpful on this forum!
I contacted Quality Professionals and it was indeed due to the mortgage I closed. They stated that they have a written auth for them to pull my report for any audits. I was chosen among the few to be audited. As long as this was all legit im ok w/ the inquiry (well, not really but it doesn't seem like I can do anything about it since they have a so called "written auth" from when I signed my docs).
They stated that I will receive something in the mail to confirm the audit and to answer some Questions. This sucks! I should have pulled the trigger on my app for CSP and VIRGIN AMERICA. Now w/ that inquiry Im sure my chances are slimmer....
On the two mortgages I've closed in my life, in both cases I signed a permission
for a credit check (HP) to be done anytime within a year of closing. I think that is a
pretty standard requirement to close. In one case the HP was done 4 months after
closing, in the other it was not done.
You may have very likely signed a consent form during closing.
**edit: whoops late reply I guess.
