Good luck, MyLo.You've got the right attitude and I'm rootin' for ya!  I have no advice to offer that you haven't already heard.  I wish you the best!

Thanks. I appreciate it. I also just realized I have an extra paycheck this month so that is another 1000 I can put on them this month. Should be able to make a good dent this month. As long as my score rebounds and I can get a BT offer I should be golden.

OP- now that you've put your business on hold is there an opportunity for OT at 9-5, or picking up a second job to get the debt paid off?  The money you use to pay off/down the debt will give you a nice boost, and if you can make enough money in OT or second job, you will probably be able to get a good BT card to pay down the rest.

I respect your decision either way, as I have filed BK in the past after my expensive divorce.  If a second job was a way to go for me I would have done it (had small kids).

I haven't heard you mention kids or other obligations that would prevent you from this.  Just a thought, and good luck in getting this done whichever way works for you.

Yes, overtime is an option as is a 2nd job. Not sure yet what I would do but I am considering it heavily. OT is better since I make pretty good money but am still hourly so that is obviosuly what I am shooting for. An 8 hour OT day at work is more than my daughter makes in a week at her 8.25 an hour job. I have 3 kids but 2 are on their own and my 16 yr old daughter lives with me. She works though so hours at night would be okay. I spend as much time with her as I can as we are very close since me and her mom split. I think it keeps her out of trouble by me staying involved in what interests her. She is extremely smart too.

Kudos on the parenting!  Hopefully you can get some OT going.  Again good luck.  I'm rooting for you.

If you have an extra $1,000, you might want to throw about $700 of it toward Spark. Adding that to the payment you've already planned would bring you down to under 48.9% on that card.

Re: Need help with a plan to pay down high utilization

My cap 1 Spark statement is about to drop. Payment will be due 4-27. When the statement hits I imagine it will put me over my limit since I only have $21 available right now. My question is, when do I make my payment so the amount after payment hits my CR's and not the over the limit balance?

Re: Need help with a plan to pay down high utilization

I have seen some great ideas presented here.  The 10K was great.  Speaking as the 60 year old who has been self employed their whole life I would to offer one suggestion.  I have had to in slow times get a short term part time job for any where a few months to six months.  I would think you  can do the same.   I was very busy last year at our business but my old little part time job wanted me some so I picked up another $5,000  working on week ends.

Any payment you make before your statement drops should reflect on your statement, and in turn on your reports.  Of course, you'll still have another payment due on the statement...if that's no big deal then great, but otherwise...just make sure you don't miss that meeting with your attorney friend we talked about earlier in the thread Smiley Happy

What day does the Statement cut?  You can make a payment the last day of the Statement and it should reflect in the balance they send to the bureau.  (At least, its that way with their personal cards).

I was was trying to get under a certain utilization threshold reporting this month....my Statement cuts on the 21st of every month, so I made a payment on the 21st and the balance reported to the bureaus included my last minute payment.

All my statements are date the 2nd of each month. I went ahead and paied $250 on that card to bring the UTIL down 85%. Hopefully that updates on my CR in a few days.

@When you make a payment on a personal Cap1 account before a new statement generates, the system tells you it will count towards your current billing period. The cut off time is 8 pm EST for payments to post @ midnight. I don't have any business accounts with them so Idk if the policy is the same.

Its the same. I made the payment and it said it would not count towards my statement since it had not cut. I am okay with that though.
