Re: Need help with a plan to pay down high utilization

Thanks. I have not made any headway on my balances in a month due to a variety of things but they have passed now. No increase mind you but no progress. I am back on track now though and should be making headway again soon.

These things take time and meanwhile, life is still happening around you.  Don't let it get you down...you'll see progress in August!

Re: Need help with a plan to pay down high utilization

I just clicked on this thread with the full intention of bumping it to ask if you had an update after all this time since I've checked every now and then and didn't see anything.  (Not that you owe it to anyone, of course.)  Pleasantly surprised to see that you updated us!  So 2/3 scores are still hovering right at 700 so you didn't bottom-out further with all of the new apps.  By September or October, that "past 90 days sting" should begin to wear off so even if the balances are fairly stagnant, hoping you'll see at least one long-lasting 700+ soon!  I know that will be a morale booster.

Re: Need help with a plan to pay down high utilization

Absolutely. My scores are not horrid (for me anyway) and the main reason for them staying where they are in light of a few cards being auto-CLD'd (will explain in a minute) is because inquiries, negatives, and time are passing and dropping off my CR's. I am not displeased with where I am. My main priority right now is making more money to pay these down. I actually am starting to fear I might not be able to do this. Not because I don't want too but because I don't make enough money. I got my shift moved to nights and I am picking up more overtime and bonuses but its not enough. I am only able to decrease the balance by a $2-300 every two weeks. Right now that isn't an issue but once my promotional rates expire I might be in a pickle. I get paid in two days and will be posting a revised table for your perusal and looking for further advice.

As for my scores, the CRA's are being kind to me. Equifax especially is just randomly dropping bad things for me, no idea why. Things that aren't even supposed to come off. inquiries only 7 months old are disappearing, bad debt that is only 6 yrs old is dropping, and late payment accounts disappearing or being reported as NA. Not real sure but that score is coming up fast.

My Walmart Store card got CLD from 8k to 1k. BP went 3500 to 1000. Chevron/Texaco store card went from 6k to 1k. I got online and asked for CLI and they went right back to what they were so that is good. Then I hit up the rest and got small CLI's on them. I'm happy about that. When I make my new table I will record the new CL's.

I have entertained this idea too. My only issue is I have co-workers who do this who come to work daily with horror stories. Plus, I have a 2-14 F-150 with a 5.0 V8 that gets 4 gas stations to the mile. Going off my co-workers numbers, I would lose money. With the wear and tear on the vehicle I am not sure it would really do me any good.

Re: Need help with a plan to pay down high utilization

Umm...no. You really need a low mileage vehicle for that.
