I am in a situation that I'm completely baffled about, and I'm hoping to get some suggestions.
My husband (we'll use John Doe) is continually getting mixed up with another John Doe. The other John Doe lives in a different state and has a different middle name. The other John does not pay his bills and continually has things going into collection. When they do, they end up on my husband's credit report, apparently because they have the same first and last name.
If this were identity fraud, I'd know how to deal with it, but it isn't. It's identity mixup, but I can't keep going through this. These incidents happen repeatedly, and it takes me anywhere from 30-80 hours to correct them.
I thought about putting a note on all his credit files, but I don't know if collectors even see those notes, or if they'd even care. They seem to stick the bill to whoever looks promising.
Thanks in advance!
I feel his pain. Same crap happened to dh...and it cost us a house we both wanted!!!! It took almost 60 days to get straightened out...even then there were issues.
Bunch of BS!!!!!!!
Just wondering: when a representative puts the information onto our CR...I wonder if the representative has to use a code or employee # so these errors can be tracked.
When I coded for Aetna, I had a # I had to enter on every form..if there were errors down the line, they knew who to beat on!!!!!
