Long story short I went to get a car loan and instead of running my credit through the dealership in which I was pre-approved (I mentioned such as well) they ran it through the mud just to tell me I was indeed approved through the dealership. Contacted Equifax and Transunion by email for a dispute to no avail, so I looked around today for a direct number to contact Equifax (866-640-2273) is the number I found on what seemed to be a legit Equifax website "http://www.equifax.com/cs/Satellite?pagename=online_dispute" (all the links worked and there was also a norton security seal on there as well) So I went ahead and called and even though I seemed hesitant I gave them my information anyway. Needless to say the inquires we're undisputable.. So I'm curious if anyone knows if that was a legit number I called, or did I just scam myself? I've already went ahead and put a fraud alert on just to be safe; I'm basically looking for some sort of reassurance. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes time and replies.

Per google... "Equifax Personal Solutions. Personal credit products that enlighten, enable, and empower you. If you are experiencing difficulties, please contact Equifax's customer care team at 1-866-640-CARE (1-866-640-2273) for assistance."
The inquiries are not disputable and you own them for 2 short years. Don't panic because they are grouped as one for scoring purposes. I suggest getting a preapproval through PenFed or DCU next time before you buy.
Enjoy the new car. :]
