Call and ask.

Discover is known for giving people permanent APR reductions on request but you have to request it.  Not sure about Amex or Chase.

Re: Negotiating down credit card APR?

None of my cards would entertain my request until 0% APR promotion period expires, the only older card Citi Costco is already @ 15.74% which is lower than their lowest APR offer of 16.24% for new apps so I doubt I'll get anyway with CITI.

Discover heck YES ... Can chat them up every 6 months.. but it has to be after the first year or intro 0 period (if you have more than 12 months )

Amex... Yes.. but a little harder.... Usually not in the first year...

Chase... Forget about it.. they dont budge..... only way you can lower your APR is app for a new card that has a preapproval with a lower apr
