New Account Activity on Experian ????

Please help - why did this happen?

And what can I do?  DV the CA?

I got an alert that there was new activity on my EX report - it showed that Rapid Collection Systems has an collection account with a $0.00 balance.

On my lastest CR (01/02/08) I had a collection with Rapid Collection Systems (Apartment) for $365.00.

Status Date  12/01/05

Assigned Date  10/20/05

Reported Date  05/09/07

I haven't sent any correspondence to this CA - why did they change my balance to $0.00?  Also, since there isn't an account number in my alert, could it be a new account?

Pull an EX report and see what is reporting in case you want to dispute.  https://www.experian.com/consumer/cac/InvalidateSession.do?code=CDIRESELLER&rid=R004

You'll be able to get it with this link since you accessed reports within the past 30 days I think.  Let us know what's showing.

I pulled my report and this is what it's showing as of today . . .

Status:  Collection account.  $365 past due as of Jan 2008.

Date Opened 10/2005

Reported Since 12/2005

Date of Status 12/2005

Last Reported 01/2005

Recent Balance $365 as of 01/2008

Account History:  Collection as of Jan 2008, May 2007, April 2007, Mar 2007, Jan 2007, Dec 2005 to Dec 2006

Maybe I just got the alert since they updated reporting? - - who knows.

I'll probably just go ahead and DV then PFD even though this collection is within SOL - I'm guessing they probably won't try to sue for $365.
