New Card

Hey all. I'm looking to apply for a card, and I have the little website that does the search for the best deals (thanks for that), but I was wondering:

If I have a good, high household income, all 3 scores above 700, zero late payments, but ~75% utilization, is it absolutely impossible to get a card with a high CL, like, 15K or so? what is more realistic? Anyone know how they determine CLs?

Thanks a million!

Re: New Card

Utilizaton pays a big part in your credit score.  I would stay away from AMEX and perhaps try Citicorp.

Have you tried CLI on your current  cards yet?

Re: New Card

No, becasue the issue is to get a zero percent for 15 months (12 would be OK, too) and I doubt they'd extend that to me and give me a higher CL. Good suggestion, though.

Re: New Card

Try Discover. I got 0% interest for 12 months and a 5% balance transfer fee with a max fee of $50. My income is kinda low at just over $30k and they approved me for a $4k credit line. My utilization at the time I applied was about 70%. Maybe you can get a bigger credit line since you probably have a much bigger income.

Your scores are very good! However, your high util might scare away some CCC's or you might be offered high APRs. If you apply without paying down your balance(s), I suggest you stay away from Amex or Discover Card. Do you have enough cash on hand to pay your balances down to 49% or 29% util?
