Great..
Just when I'm sneaking up on the 700's I receive this!
Received a new collection notice from a CA for a water bill at house I rented last year. Guess I forgot to finish paying it off!
Here is what part of the letter says, dated March 13th:
The above account has been assigned to us for collections. The records of the creditor show that the debt is due in full. If paid in full to the office, all collections activities will be stopped.
As required by law you're hereby notified that a negative credit report reflected on your credit record
may be submitted to a credit reporting agency if you
FAIL TO FULFIL THE TERM OF YOUR CREDIT OBLIGATION. But we
will not submit a negative credit report to a credit reporting agency about this credit obligation
until the expiration of the time period described above.
Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving this notice that you would dispute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof this office will assume the debt is valid.
Does this mean if I pay off the collection right away..... it would not show up on my CR.. at all? I wouldn't be "FAILING" to fulfil the term as stated above..
I searched for this scenario of paying it once you receive the notice but haven't saw it NOT report..
Thanks
