New Debt Collection Scams

I have received a couple of calls recently regarding two cards from literally a decade ago.  Both cards were paid and settled.  Accounts closed. Not on my record and haven't been in years (talking 2013).  The calls claim "legal action" from attornys if I don't pay and settle in amounts of $1200-$1500.  The cards weren't but half that amount. No mailings, they refuse to give further information and or mail anything.

How is this legal?

Very likely a scam and illegal, the refusal to put anything in writing (by mail) is the tip off. Block the caller ID.

Re: New Debt Collection Scams

Yep, I get those same calls from 25+ year old debt.  Area code is out of Detroit. Supposedly, they mailed the notice to my house and since I didn't respond I'll be getting a court summons in the mail. I have called them back several times to argue. They hang up. I call right back. I was told to leave them alone at one point. Haven't gotten a call from them in about 2 weeks. Don't know if my antagozing them worked or not. I find it rather theraputic.
