New Here and I need help!

Ok, so I am trying to my rebuild my credit, but not sure where to start. I only know my score for EQ. Right now it is a 593. I seen that I jsut had a collection put on my report back from July of 04. So my first question is, should I send a PFD letter now? Or should I wait for July of 08 to do this. The SOL for Calif. is 4 years for CC's I think. I really want them to to stop contacting me and I have sent a letter, but I don't want them to take me to court. They have threaten me with this already. I just don't know what to do. Any help would be great. Thanks

read up on dv letters, then depending on reults try pfd.

Thanks for the reply, I will get some info on the DV letters. The collection is in the amount of $1083.00. I think it would cost more money to take this to court, but I have been told they are using the court tactic because the SOL is running out on this debt.

ca's will use ant tactic they think will work. just remeber you have 2 forms of leverage

1. they want your cash

2. they now they are on a short time line

maybe if you start nitting them w/letters they will get spooked and be receptive to a pfd letter

what is the DOFD or DOLA on the account??  that is the starting date of SOL for Ca.

The CA will keep calling even after past SOL...IMO  I would wait until after SOL & then DV them.

Also you need to know if Ca.law requires the CA to be licensed!! If so, are they?

The last activity on the acct was back in July of 04. So I just fiqured that they are trying to scare me with court thing, becuase the SOL will be up in next July. The CA is Hudson and Keys I belive. How do I find out if they are Liscensed?
