I just signed up.  I am here to learn more about my credit and FICO score.  I recently got my scores from the 3 agencies, Trans was a pain, and I never got my score, the other scores were 798 and the other was 849, I think, it was the one that measured on the higher scale.  I look forward to your advice and knowloedge.

Read and read and read. I suggest Credit Scoring 101 found stickied in this forum.

I would also to suggest pulling all three of your CRs found on this site. It is the only place to get your FICO score for all three CRs. Use those to compare the good and the bad on your CRs. If needed, ask specific questions on a singular topic in a new post. If kept short and succinct, people will gladly repsond to any question you may have.

Also, I've been around to several of the forums out there and am a member of some, but out of all of them, this is by far the best with their advice and most friendly.

Good luck.

Re: New Member

I just pulled 2 out of 3 of my scores.  I know they only allow 1 free time per year.  How would I do it one this site?  What is the cost?

Re: New Member

Any scores purchased outside of MyFICO are affectionally called FAKO scores, or fake scores. They are not real and no lenders that I know of uses them. But they sure are a cash cow for the CRAs. So it is a good thing you couldn't get your scores from TU.

However, EQ does business with FICO. The score you pulled directly via annualcreditreport (I assume) is a FICO score. I have heard of 1-2 day differences in the score, but I never spent money on EQ's score to figure that out or not.

I would pull from here for at least TU and EX, if you wanted accurate scores for a comparison between "then and now". The cost I think is around $16 per report and includes the score. There is a 25% off coupon, 7yrsale, and is available through 4/30/08. If you decide to pull after 4/30, google is your friend in finding a myfico discount code.

Now pulling directly from the CRA wan't a bad thing. You actually need the org. report if you needed to correct your report.

Re: New Member

849 was from the one that goes up to 990 (I think), I have the reports at home, I pulled Exp and EQ from annualcreditreport.com.  Transunion didn't work.  Do I need to pay for them again on this site, or did I do it correctly?

One of the FAKOs range tops off at 900 or 950, or something like that, doesn't it?

Either case the FICO would be deep into the 700s in any case. Great score.

You don't need to buy them here again unless you want to.  The information in the reports is the same, but the layout and the scoring models are different.  When you ask questions here sometimes it helps to have your scores from myFICO, but that is up to you if you want to purchase them.
