New to myFICO. Hello everyone....

How's everyone doing?  I accidentally found this site and got excited, a place to talk about credit I love it.  I have a question hopefully someone can answer.  I have a BK on the report which is do to falloff 05/09, Currently my scores are  ex626 tr 648 eq 669.  Should I expect my score to jump with any significances when the BK drops?

Thanks

nick

Re: New to myFICO. Hello everyone....

Welcome and congrats on the BK falling off. There is no real easy way to answer that as it depends on what else is going on in your report and credit. Sometimes when the BK falls off your bucket changes and that could put you in comparison with a new group that is better than you and your score will drop anywhere from a little to alot and might recover quickly to a long time. If you are lucky and all things are well in the universe, then ideally yes when it comes off it will improve or at least stabalize your score and allow it to improve quicker. Hope that helps.

Thanks, The only thing that is hurting me right now other then the BK is the high balances, I'm using 60% of my credit I'm hoping to get it down to 45%-49% by June.

That may or may not hurt you as much as the BK falling off will help you but it is a bit high, the average person who is considered to have good credit doesn't exceed 10% of their total but if you get it down then it will certainly improve as you will have not other negatives dragging you down.

10% oh my!  I might be able to do that.  I have another question.  Is it better to pay off small amount cards or big amount cards?

Honestly, there is no really one rule fits all but generally you want to pay the higher balance/credit ratio cards, the higher interest cards and the 10% util is really hard to maintain unless you have alot of disposable cash around. I know that I am a truly a n a l financial general in our family and even I can't keep it at or under the 10% too long and too often, it varies considerably so I try to balance it with other smart and effective practices to offset any damage I cause. I was riding the 800 scores until I got married and inherited a huge mess (don't tell her or she'll think I am bitter) but now my scores are riding much lower because of it. So I am in the same boat as many as far as trying to balance the good, the bad and the ugly of credit and staying in a respectable neighborhood. Ultimately it comes down to you getting disciplined enough to know what you need to do, learn about what needs to be done and what you can do and try your best, there is no magic formula for success despite our best efforts.

Hello denied-again & welcome. Your scores seem pretty good right now so if that is the last of your neg info & you pay down your utilities I'd expect sores in the high 600's to the mid 700's  at least. Congrats !
