Some of the forums and threads here say that some companies don't do a hard pull, only a soft. Do you know which major lenders do a hard pull and which a soft. Or do you know of a resource where I can find this?
Thanks!
Great info from all of you. I noticed that Equifax sells a $40 product that is all 3 bureau reports and a score:
http://www.equifax.com/compare-products/reports
Is this the same thing that most lenders get (and) is it a 3-in-1 FICO score? There was an earlier post that referenced this kind of report wasn't available to the general public anymore so am a little confused (again).

There is no 3 in 1 service that sells all 3 FICO scores. This particular product from EQ is based on their own "Equifax Credit Score" and uses different scoring formulas than FICO.
Equifax will still sell you a FICO score found here: www.equifax.com/web-myfico-products/
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem".
That is NOT FICO scores.
Get you free reports from all three CRAs. Check to make sure that all the information is correct.
Pay for the EQ FICO from here. You could also find it buried in the EQ site but they will try very hard to sell you one of their useless scores like the one you found. This will be exactly the score pulled for your EQ FICO by most mortgage lenders so it is the closest thing to a perfect FICO score available to a consumer.
If you must pull a TU FICO, you can pay for the one here but it is an older version not used as much anymore.
If you truly have 80% util on a CC, you have lousy credit even with a perfect payment history. You won't get a BT card so don't waste a hard inquiry. A hard inquiry is REQUIRED for new credit. Soft inquiries are for review by existing creditors and promotional purposes.
