No Revolving Credit or Credit Card Activity

Hi,

My credit score is negatively affected due to zero recent balances on revolving credit accounts and no recent activity on credit cards. If my husband adds me as an authorized user on his credit card (which we use regularly), will it help this problem, or do I need to open my own account?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Re: No Revolving Credit or Credit Card Activity

When Fico '08 goes into effect, your being an AU on his account will no longer help your score.

My suggestion is to get your own credit card, and/or see if your DH's CCs can be revised to joint accounts. Good luck!

Thanks for your response, desifink.  It was extremely helpful.  I had no idea about FICO '08.

Re: No Revolving Credit or Credit Card Activity

LPUPPY,

If you have accounts in your name or that you are joint on, simply using one of them and waiting to pay until after the statement cuts (but before the due date) will cure that message. If you already have an account there is no need for a new one. One $5 dollar charge reporting will take care of that and could give you 10-20 points on your score.

If you don't have a CC in your name I too suggest you obtain one. Do some research before applying. There is plenty of great info on here and some other sites.
