A secured credit card is a great ides EXCEPT it will take you more than 6 months for that cc to report to the bureuas......

It will not take more than 6 months to report, it should take less than a month.  The issue was not how long it would take for a new CC to report, it was that a new account would take 6 months to provide enough history to geerate a FICO score, assuming it was the only reported tradeline.

This is just an option you might try. I talked to my bank yesterday about CD. They said I could buy $500,$ 1000 etc in a CD and turn around and get a loan on it, I know my bank puts it on your CR within a week. May or may not work. Thought I would mention it.

Again, the problem was not related to how long it would take for something to report; it was related to having the 6 months of history required to generate a FICO score.

Re: No Score after rapid rescore!!

Ok. The info is great folks thank you so much.

I really don't want to add information thats not mine. I have a company that will add AU's and Primary user accounts. But its not right. I should have to lie and say I owe people money just to fool a trick a faulty system. But I will if I have no other options.

Here is what I have done and learned since my last post:

  1. A zero score is good as long as there is nothing else on the report- So I contacted all the collection accounts( that have been paid in full) and asked them if there was any way to delete there reports. 2 thought I was joking! 2 didn't reply but 2 did and they faxed me letters saying the info will be deleted. This info has been faxed and sent CMRRR to all 3 CRA's
  2. I opened a crown jewelers account and bought a crapy watch.. LOL what a joke
  3. I opened a secured credit card. This killed me! I hate CC's For 10 years I have done every thing cash
  4. I have a new mortgage company working with me. They do not use landsafe for there reports. They are using Kroll Data. Kroll says there should be a score and will work on fixing it.

Any tips on getting the other collections to delete fast or anything else I could do.

Re: No Score after rapid rescore!!

Thanks.. I guess I'm a bad person cause I don't use credit cards. I pay all my bills on time and in cash. I bought my car & boat cash. I pay my insurance for the year in cash. My vacations are all cash.

I live within my means. Now I know I should be like the rest of the world and live on credit.

Thanks for kicking me when i'm down!

It doesn't make you a bad person; it's just a fact of life that living off the credit grid will come back to haunt you when you need credit.  A mortgage is probably the largest amount of credit anyone will ever apply for.  You can't expect to walk into a someone's office and expect them to loan you several hundereds of thousands of dollars when you've never borrowed money for anything in your life.

Also, don't forget that having available credit is not the same has having debt.  It is entirely posible (and quite common among those of us on these boards) to build a solid credit history by acquiring a good amount of credit but no debt.

It sounds like you're on the right track now.  Try not to get disouraged, it'll take some time but it'll be worth it in the long run.  Hopefully the new company will be willing to work with you Smiley Happy

Good luck!

While I didn't go off the grid as long as you did, I lived off the grid for a couple of years. While I had displayed excellent credit history in the past, my current open credit was so limited that I had to quickly open a CC just to get some credit mix on the grid. I, too, went to the carlot and paid cash for my current vehicle four years ago. I take vacations on cash, pay insurance, etc.

However, I have come to see the light. I just needed/wanted (whichever) to buy a house which cost $775M. Well, income aside, the lender wanted to see me hit the grids a little harder before forking over a loan for $620M. Glad to see that you are getting on board to do what you have to in order to make the dream come true for you. GL

No nyuplink, you are not a bad person at all! I don't make the rules... I don't like to use cc's either...well mabey my new pink discover card but really...just because people have cl's does not mean we have to get in debt, that is a choice. I never charge anything I can't pif within 2 months. That's just me. I rather use cash for everything too but in todays world we all need a good fico for mortgages, insurance rates, cell phones... I think that's cool that you are able to buy expensive things in cash. I hope you get a fico soon! Good luck!Smiley Happy  P/s, I was not kicking you just pointing out the sad reality of the world we live in today.

Re: No Score after rapid rescore!!

Ok I first want to thank everyone for there input. Yes I was off the grid for to long and now I'm paying the price. I think FICO 101 should be thought in High school.

Now for the better news. I got a 100% approval of a $405K FHA loan. They faxed the commitment letter last night. I had to get a co-signer. A very good friend of mine offered, Hell he called my mortgage guy and gave him his info just to help me out. He works for me and is a life long buddy and he has a 787 Fico Score!! Who knew?

Lets see what issues I have to deal with next..
