Down to the last baddie... I contacted the OC of an account that has been verified repeatedly by all three CRs. I contacted the OC (emailed the CEOs) and they responded that they could not locate. A local agent left a voice mail asking me to contact for additional assistance. Before I return the call, I want to make sure I should talk to them directly versus in writing. This is an OLD account that should have fallen off this year, but has been reaged due to a merger. Looking for advise.
Wow. I would think that if they can not verify, it's time to send them a letter for deletion.
If you have other information/proof of DOFD, you could dispute directly with the CB.
Is the account paid? Beyond SOL?
Merger of the old account cannot reset the CR falloff date. There is no such thing as reaging the date of a prior account delinquency with the OC.
Individual delinquencies with the OC fall at 7 years from their dates. A CO reported by the OC must fall at 7 1/2 years from the DOFD with the OC. These dates are fixed, and cannot be reset.
I suggest you deternine date of each prior account delinquency, and if a CO was reported, the DOFD, before you do anything else.
