Re: Off-Topic: What cell phone provider do you have?

Verizon.  I got a "bonus" from them when I signed up p they did a hard CR on me.  That and when I opened a Wachovia checking account are they only 2 hard pulls on my report in 3 years.  I keep $5 in my Wachovia account now I wont give them a dime anymore.  As far as Verizon goes, in a little over a year they will also go away.

Re: Off-Topic: What cell phone provider do you have?

Verizon! In the past I have had VoiceStream?, Sprint, T-mobile, Nextel (I always used to switch to get the cool, new phone...DUMB!) and now that I live in the middle of nowhere in ND Verizon and Alltel are the only two big carriers here. I've had Verizon 2 years and got my "new every two" phone last summer, a MotoKrzr for free.

Compared to the others, their customer service is great, and I absolutely love the website, very user-friendly, I pay online, check minutes, etc. and it's great.

They have good family plans, however I think their minutes are a little stingier than some of the other carriers.

Re: Off-Topic: What cell phone provider do you have?

We have AT&T(previously Cingular before they got bought out).

Family plan, 600 shared minutes, roll over minutes(which we'll never use) for $95/month. Love the service, never have dropped calls, never without strong signals, partially because I live in Texas where it's flat as a pancake.

Re: Off-Topic: What cell phone provider do you have?

The family business pays for my Verizon. We have 4 lines, about 3000 minutes to share for around $275/mo. I don't know what part of NC Kernersville is in but in the mountainous areas you'll find that there are usually only 1-2 companies where you can get much of any service at all. My parents are in Gatlinburg, TN and Verizon is the ONLY carrier that you can get a signal with. Ironically, I get really good service everywhere except my house (which is concrete block built into the side of an enormous hill facing a big ridge -Missionary Ridge in Chattanooga). I suspect that lethal combo kills any hope of a signal from any carrier. I used to have AT&T and it was worse. I have to go outside to use my cell...

Re: Off-Topic: What cell phone provider do you have?

I am so glad you brought this subject up! I have been surfing the web for "pay as you go" phones for my pre-teens. They want Virgin Mobile "cause they have cool phones and ring tones" (pre-teen talking)! Does anyone have this service? I need to know asap, as they want these for Christmas.Smiley Surprised

I have Cingular and they do a hard pull every time you change anything and I hate them but I have no choice  Smiley Sad
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Oh gosh scrambling! I've been down that road tooooo many times! The phones are inexpensive but the minutes you have to buy are outrageous! We could never keep minutes on the phone, ESPECIALLY with a 17 y.o. teenager. At $.25 per minute in talk time, it adds up quick!

IMO, if you're footing the monthly expense, you'd be better off with a plan of some sort. *gulp* I know that scary. But would save you money in long run.

BUT, if they pay for the minutes themselves, well that's different.

Good luck!

Re: Off-Topic: What cell phone provider do you have?

HAve them find out what providers their friends have (and keep track) - most providers have in-network calling free...

Either that or get them SPrint/Nextel with free incoming - and block all outgoing calls (911 is the only exception that I know of).

Third option - they pay for any overage...

Yes, I was a mean Mommie!

Re: Off-Topic: What cell phone provider do you have?

Thanks Sylvia and Lady S! Those minutes are what's killing me, and my kids know how to talk alot! The reason why I was going with pre-paid is because I do not want a cell on MY cr and the hard inqs to go with it and also the so called family plans are like 60 bucks a month...I think I will go with the virgin mobile, but the kids will be doing ALOT of chores to buy the "top up" cards to keep their phones alive...I'll let them suffer...LOL!
