Trying to see into the future because Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
Sometime in the future (maybe year? depending on market conditions and rates) I'm planning on getting a mortgage, apping for a couple prime credit cards and getting rid of some sub-prime cards.
I am not making any credit moves until a mortgage approval and haven't had any new accounts or inquiries in over 2 years.
Looking for some experienced data from forum members that have undergone the following scenario.
I believe CC companys consider length of residence as a factor among many in approvals and I know people app for new products after they have keys in hand.
I was wondering during the period of time between mortgage approval and mortgage reporting on CR what address is used for apps.
Old address would be family home so it doesn't matter if approved credit card goes to that address instead of new address because I would still be bouncing back at different seasons to both addresses.
Wondering what info people generally use for new apps after mortgage approval and how it affects you.
@Iusedtolurk After the mortgage is complete and you have moved I would suggest you do this. Update all your creditors with yuor new address. When you apply for new credit in whatever form put new addrees in as the current address and the old address as the previous address. When the credit bureau receives the inquiry the bureau will know you are the same person at both adrdresses. The bureau will be able to combine the profiles. This will help prevent split files and other such things.
