I don't know if I am posting in the right area. I noticed a soft inquiry from Equifax on my Experian report today and I have never seen an inquiry from another CRA. I just thought it was odd. Has this ever happen to anyone and what does it mean..lol!! I just thought it was odd. Any insights on why one bureau would check another bureau?
Do you have credit monitering serive for all three bureaus?
It might have something to do with CMS.
For example, if one of the three bureaus offers you a 3-in-1 monitoring service, then presumably they have to do soft pulls from the other bureaus.

I do not have a 3 in one service. I have the experian monitoring that Target offered and then the Equifax Score Watch on here.
They are subject to the permissible purpose requirement and would have to have had either an authorization from the consumer, or one of the stated permissible purposes under section 604.
I, too, would suspect that either the credit monotiorng agrrment provided an authorization, of they somehow had a permisible purpose, although I cant think of one offhand.
If you wish to find out, you can use the provision of FCRA 609(a)(1) to obtain "any information of record" in yuor credit file, of which their statement of permissible purpose would be information in your file. Section 609(a)(1) requests require payment of a fee, which is currently $11.00.
