Open Accounts

On my credit report there are accounts showing that are very old (7 years plus), but have been paid.

Most are old car loans or leases that have been either paid off or the car was sold.  My credit report shows that I have too many accounts (total number of accounts).  Does this mean that these are still considered "open" and that I need to call to have them closed or does it just mean that I have had too many accounts in the past?

Re: Open Accounts

That annoying red flag appears when you hit or surpass 30 accounts I believe, opened or closed. Not too much you can do about it.

IMO, ignore it. Your old, closed accounts are greatly contributing to your AAoA and removing them early could drop your score. Good accounts remain for a period of 10 yrs beyond the date you closed it.
