Hello everyone
I recently retrieved my credit score and report. At 624 i have some work to do. I have two open collection accounts from Midland Funding LLC
one for $15 and one for $650. I realize this is something I should take care of immediately as it was opened in the year 2011. My questions is, do I negotiate the amount I pay? Or should I just pay the full amount?
I also have a Bank of America collection account that was opened in 2011 and just recently a "closed account" and described as a "closed as derragatory" account, yikes, the balance shows $0 since it was charged off. My question; is the damage already done, or should I still try and work something out with them?
thanks for any help.

Paying a collection account won't raise your score, but when you're applying for new credit a paid collection looks better than an unpaid. No matter the amount, always try and negotiate a settlement. You'd preferably want to settle with the agreement to delete the tradeline, but in the very least you want them to report it as paid.
Thanks for the response.
Am I looking to have the tradeline erased for open and closed accounts, or just the open ones?
Pay for delete is the first choice. If you pay the account without getting an agreement to pay for delete having the agency mark it as paid will amke it a paid collection account. This will not remove the derogatory information. There is the thought you can pay off knoiwing that in seven yours that it will fall off your credit report or try to use good will letters to have the agency remove the reporting after it is paid. The Bank of America account would consider calling them and see if you can make payment arrangements with them before they sell or asdsignyour account to a collection agency.
Don't overlook the Rebuilding subforum as a resource.
Here you will find some examples of PFD letters:

Thank you, maybe I can move my thread there?Moderator feel free.
Thank you very much for these, they are pointing me in the right direction. I guess my question is; are PFD letters only for outstanding or "current" debts. Or are they also for closed or "charged off" debts?

PFDs are for use on unpaid debts that OCs & CAs have. They are not used on current open accounts that are paid as agreed.
The account I mention as "open" is one that has been in a CA for a few years now. It is in collections, but I have not received a letter from them for months nor have I made any arrangments to pay for anything yet. I have some money now so I wanted to take care of it since it is the only account that is "open" on my CR, I figured I would take care of the "charged off accounts" later. I was going to call to try and settle the debt, but then I saw the ifnormation on PFD, is this something that would benefit from PFD in regards to removing bad debt from my history?
