Hi community, I'm hoping for some advice on how to handle this situation. I cancelled my OpenSky secured credit card ($200 deposit) in July 2017 after successfully rebuilding credit in just under 12-months and avoiding the renewal annual fee. The account was closed and I received confirmation of this. It is now the end of Jan 2018 and I have still not received my deposit check. Since mid-November, I have contacts OpenSky five times and everytime get a rubbish response (Oh, there was a problem, it's fixed now; Oh, you should hear from us in 2-days; Oh, the check was sent yesterday; Oh... yadda yadda).
I'm a little concerned that this company is fobbing me off and have no intention of returning my money. Today, I spoke with a Supervisor who said she would call me back but, guess what, never called me back!
Anyone have any ideas?
CFPB complaint. Includes dates of calls, excuses, names of who you spoke with, numbers you dialed, etc.
Hi @Anonymous, I've moved your thread to 'General Credit' to get your issue more exposure.

Oh no. Now I'm scared to cancel mine. Was getting ready to here in the next month or two also. Has anyone else had this problem?? Please advise
I second the CFPB complaint. I haven't personally dealt with OpenSky, but i did have some account problems with Coinbase in the past.
Complaining to CFPB really got the ball rolling.
If you waited a reasonable amount of time, and it's not resolved, this would be the next step.
Here is a link to start a complaint.
This makes me nervous to cancel my OpenSky card. I don't use it anymore so maybe they'll just cancel it for inactivity. Who knows. I hope this is an anomaly rather than the usual experience.

They won't cancel it because there's an annual fee. So make sure to check your account once or twice a month to make sure that fee didn't post -- you will get reported as late to the bureaus if you ignore the fee.
Thank you for the help, everyone. I have submitted my complaint and will let you know how I get on.
Having done lots of research, I couldn't find another case so it's possible that I am a unique case. However, the wild goose chase just seems to nuts to be a one-off - surely they would have got it fixed by now...?
