Out of the gutter!

Paid off 2200 of a 4800 balance on a CC a few days ago and could not wait to see what that would do for my score. (I knew it was supposed to report yesterday based on a TrueCredit pull a while back.)

Pulled EX and TU this am- and GRRRRRR, TU hasn't updated balance yet!!!! GRRRR! But wait! EX has- and my score has risen from 592 on 4/8, the lowest of my three, up to 611- out of the dreaded 500's! 19 points in 8 days, woohoo! It's now my middle score, which I'm pleased with.

Then I remember one thing- oh, yeah, I'm disputing one of my younger CA's on EX-- so it's probably not factored into FICO right now, thus raising my score artificially. Smiley Tongue Oh, well- it gives me an idea of where I'll be if this comes through. They've only got 14 more days to respond, and I did it online so I'll know immediately. (And yes, I printed out the dispute confirmation page!)

But... bottom line, the scores are *up*! I sent out a bunch of GW's again yesterday, we'll see where that gets me. Wish me luck!

Congrats on the debt payoff!

I would send a DV to the CA CMRRR. Remember, disputing is not necessarily a good thing. It is a computer talking to a computer without any human interaction.

CRA Computer: I dispute.
CA Computer: OK...um...I verify.
CRA Computer: OK. Verified.

Sad but true. I disputed late on a Saturday night. By very early the next Sunday morning, items were verified. There's no way there was human interaction there.

But disputing now harms your chances to dispute later. It should only be a last resort only if you disagree with the account. Also disputing will wake the CA up.

Re: Out of the gutter!

I thought about DV'ing (or more likely PFD'ing)- but this is a small time, local CA which has neither sold off nor made any collection attempts on several accts since 2002... I'm kinda hoping they won't reply to the CRA's attempt to verify. (It's an old medical collection.) 16 days down, 14 more to go. Keeping my fingers crossed.

If they do verify, then I'll just PFD or heck- just pay them off now that I know it'd fall off anyway (debt incurred 2002, in NY paid collections last 5 years... thus if I paid now, it'd just go away.)

Anywhoo, got my EQ report this afternoon- they've not yet posted the payment, but my score there still jumped from 639 to 650!! Woohoo! Movin' on up!

Re: Out of the gutter!

I would still DV the CA. You need to be sure that they were assigned and it has not been returned to the OC. Even if they bought it    they must have the proper info.   IF they sold it & you pay them....you might find another CA trying to collect & you might have to pay again.
