PFD Disaster. . .

Hi everyone,

I negotiated my butt off for a PFD and the state AG assisted me in doing so.  I sent my check in for the amount agreed and today I got a scorewatch alert that my score had decreased by 21 points.  I look at my credit report on myfico and the account now says settled and it shows a $30 difference between what I paid and what I allegedly owed so it looks like I settled for less than the full amount.  I contacted the collection agency, they apologized profusely after looking at the notes in their computer and stated they were sending a request out today to have the account deleted.  The AG's office has been really helpful with this collection agency so I think that has motivated them to cooperate with me.  As background, this collection agency has already deleted one of two accounts they claimed I had with them. My question is, will my credit score go back up 21 points and then go up even higher after it is deleted?  Or, am I screwed and am now unecessarily down 21 points and it being deleted won't bring me up much more because of this mistake??? I'm really upset . . .this has been about 11 months in the making.  :-(

They fall down fast and crawl back up usually! If you have credit cards i would suggest playing with your util%, some have had success in seeing rapid score increases! Good Luck!

Re: PFD Disaster. . .

I'd like to think that since it's being deleted, all negative impact on your scoring would be removed, however I can't say that for sure Smiley Sad  keep us updated and good luck!

Re: PFD Disaster. . .

Yes - I got this in writing.  They sent this letter to me and to the AG's office.

The amount that I paid was what we agreed to pay in the PFD letter.

I am really keeping my fingers crossed that the -21 points is recovered in addition to more points for it being deleted.

Thanks for the advice so far!

Re: PFD Disaster. . .

When my verizon collection was removed my FAKO scores dropped for 2 reasons - I lost my oldest acocunt and I now had no new 'collection' - the next month they rebounded by almost 120 points.
