PFD HELP

I have 5 accounts in collections.... I sent a PFD to all collection companies but they never sent anything back (( this was over 1 month ago)) .. One CA caled me and said they "under law" cannot do a PFD..if they could they would.....blah blah blah....

My question is .. So what do I do now?....send another letter?...... When I orginally sent the letter I sent one from this site and I offered to pay the FULL amount but they must agree to PFD.....

What's next?...should I use a different tactic?......

Thanks.....

Re: PFD HELP

Hi WIDSMI, welcome to the forums. Please read credit scoring 101, which is stickied at the top of many of these boards. Also, you might want to read up on some threads involving CAs. First things that I would want to know, if I were you, is what is SOL, what is DOFD, and can they validate. If beyond SOL, definitely DV. If not, you already are prepared to PFD, so DV the CA anyway. You want to make sure that you are paying the correct organization. Does the CA own this debt? What is their right to collect from you?

Re: PFD HELP

There is a difference between the debts being valid and the CA being the one who is able to collect from you. Go back and read post #2 and answer those questions. From there, you want to DV the CA. In the DV letter it states that they are only to contact you via mail, no telephone. DV is your answer right now.

Re: PFD HELP

OK.... I will DV today... Is there a sample letter I can use for the DV process that states do not call me?....Also...Will the DV process allow me to know if they own the debt or just assigned to collect it... I am thinking there not willing to PFD becuase they don't actually own it....If that is so should I send a PFD to the original creditor?.....

Thanks for all your help......Im ready to get this behind me...

Re: PFD HELP

There are sample letters everywhere. Personally for your first DV to a certain CA, I would keep it basic;

Dear idiot CA,

I found this account when I recently pulled my CR:

Account
Name of OC

I dispute this collection and request validation, blah blah blah. Any contact must be made via USPS because phone calls are very inconvenient to me.

Love,

Your name.

Also, PFD's dont work all the time. Just because a CA doesnt accept PFD, dont think that they dont own the debt. Its possible, but anything is possible nowadays.

You can PFD an OC, but if the OC has the debt, its gonna be a rare case to have them delete.

Re: PFD HELP

Actually, the Lonnster letter is the one that I like for DVs. It's very strong and lets the CA know that you are serious.

I don't know atl, these forums are littered with examples where members have had OCs delete their baddies.

Re: PFD HELP

The Lonster letter is definitely a good one, I was just saying, IMO, your first DV should be very simple! Again that is just my opinion...it is what has worked best for me Smiley Tongue

Also, the words "rare case" should be omitted from my last post. I didnt mean it to sound like its nearly impossible to get an OC to PFD, I just believe its much easier to get a CA.

Alas, I am still very new to credit repair, so take my words with a grain of salt. There are GREAT mods here that know so much and have much experience, as well as other members.

Re: PFD HELP

I wasn't trying to jump on you atl. We certainly solicit everyone's experiences and opinions. I just didn't want some new member to happen upon it and think that it's no use to try to get an OC to remove a baddie. Persistence is key to credit repair. Smiley Wink
