i'll contact the court clerk on monday.  i'll keep you guys posted.

If they have it as satisfied in their judgment book, you should be able to dispute the tradeline with the credit bureaus and have them update it.

Re: PUBLIC RECORD INFO

You should be able to dispute it with the CRAs then and have it corrected.  Save the phone number you called for the court clerk because sometimes you need to walk the CRAs through the steps.

Re: PUBLIC RECORD INFO

can i do it by calling the CRAs or do I need to send a letter via certified mail?  I'm gonna call the court clerk again today and see if i can get a letter from them saying that this judgement has been satisfied...maybe get a phone number for the lawyer as well so i can get in contact with them too and get a similar letter.

so all these years, this darn thing has been showing as not paid?

Re: PUBLIC RECORD INFO

ok just an update.  i contacted the CRAs and initiated an online dispute and a phone call to TU.  the online dispute will it indicated that the judgement has been released.  for TU, the rep i spoke with said they will send notification to the court to update the status of the docket number.  she said the court has 30 days to respond.  i'll keep you updated as when i get notification of their decision.

I'm not sure they check directly with the court.  Last I knew they checked directly with the data aggregator who combed the court files and discovered your judgment.  Often when asked to verify, they are too lazy or stupid to actually check with the court and they just verify their original report.

Get documentation from the court clerk just in case you need to prove to the credit bureaus that it is paid.

Re: PUBLIC RECORD INFO

yeah im gonna go get some sort of document from the court saying its been released.  unfortunately, since the court online document retrieval was put in effect only 2-3 years ago (from what the court recorder's office rep i spoke with), i would not be able to download the document i need and print since my file was dated back in 2006.  sucks so now i have to go to the recorder's officer personally to get a copy of it.  rep wouldn't even give me phone number for the lawyer for NCO who handled to civil case so i can call that office and get a letter from them.

but anyhoo...i'll update you again with what happens to the disputes i submitted.  btw...i appreciate your replies and all your advice on how to proceed with this situation.

Re: PUBLIC RECORD INFO

ok an update.  i received a letter from TU yesterday.  it said they have finished their investigation and have updated my account.  they sent me a copy of what's indicated on my report now.  but it still does not say anything about it being paid/satisfied.  the only change was that  on the "Court Type" section, it now says Superior Court (it used to say Recorder of Deeds.  so not sure of what to do now.

CRAs are notorious for failing to verify with the source.  They just contact the  company which scans courthouse records and those lazy SOBs just verify without really checking.

Get documentation from the court which issued the judgment showing it is satisfied.  Then have TU act on that documentation.
