Past due balance on Foreclosure

When we were talking with a mortgage lender that pulled my husband's credit she made the comment that it's unusual for a past due balance to show on a foreclosure.  He has a $5,762 past due amount on the foreclosure of $92,271.  On EX is states "Credit Grantor reclaimed collateral to settle defaulted mortgage".  Was the lender correct?  Should it show no past due balance?  If it shouldn't what can I do to fix it?

Dispute with the CRAs as inaccurate.

Re: Past due balance on Foreclosure

Yeah it has to be a mistake.  Most mortgage companies want to completely get out of the deal after the foreclosure sale.
