Re: PayPal Credit account

So I was able to add PayPal to my Samsung Wallet this am.  It took me to PayPal and had me create a pin# to use with it. Just left the pump and BOOM!!!  It worked!  Pump literally asked me to enter my pin after I did the wireless scan with my phone. Not too shabby.

There is a gotcha tho.  It only uses your PayPal balance/linked bank account. Does not go to PPC or any of your alternate payment methods. Pretty slick tho... PayPal at the pump using my Samsung phone.  What a universe.  😉

@805orbust Do you have PayPal credit set as your preferred way to pay? Either way, that is cool. Thanks for the experiment and the feedback. Credit card skimmers are on the rise at gas pumps so maybe it's another layer of protection if you have your credit card saved to your paypal wallet.

When I added it to my Google wallet it did not ask me to create a PIN at anytime.

Re: PayPal Credit account

Yes, PPC is my preferred payment method.  I suppose there are differences in how Google and Samsung process their payments... Hella cool tho.  Also, iirc there was a message from PayPal upon setup abut the payment option thing.

@805orbust Yeah I think it is very useful if it works at the pump especially while traveling!! Thank you for achieving clarification regarding hidden and unknown capabilities of PPC.

I've seen a few retails that have offered PPC as an option... never tried it.  Basically I use it as a safe way to pay online.  Not giving the merchant any access to my sensitive account information.  It reports like a credit card,  or line of credit.  Revolving, with utilization percentages displayed as normal.  I've come to love it actually.  I even used it for an Alibaba trade assurance order for around $5000 once for some Ebikes I bought from China about 18 months ago.  REALLY cool product for the right type of purchases.

@805orbust

Is it true that even if a vendor accepts PayPal credit, they can exclude products specific products from being able to purchased with PayPal Credit?

Re: PayPal Credit account

..maybe?  I suppose there could be some exclusions stated by paypal credit/synchrony which are not allowed.. never looked that close.

I would seem against the grain though if a merchant were able to pick and choose what could be bought by any specific payment method once they have chosen to accept that form of payment.

@kremonis  u suppose they can do whatever they wish, however, I'd be immediately turned off by that.  Of course I can be cranky  🤣

Re: PayPal Credit account

I have both as well. I use the PP credit for online purchases and love the no interest for six months. I have hit a wall with the credit limit. I have cards with 20k+ limits and carry no subsantial debt. But the PP credit will not give me past 10k line of credit.

@Vino68  Cant compare any creditor to another. Or even another member. Creditors all have their own protocols and internal settings. You may have hit their limit with your file or it might be another reason. Apples to oranges.
