Hello,
Looking for some feedback on this. I defaulted on a Southwest credit card with Chase. I owed them $13k and got overwhelmed and stopped paying it. Chase came after me and I worked out a deal with thier legal company to avoid any court action. I pay $250 a month and now owe 8K on the card. Equifax has it reported as Charge-Off....TU says Charged off as bad debt....Experian says "unpaid balance reported as a loss by credit grantor.
Is there any way I can reach out to the bureaus to get them to not report this as negative since I'm currently making monthly payments? Any particular wording to use on my dispute? My latest report does show the $8,176 latest reported balance. This is the only negative item on my credit report but I feel like it's holding me back as all of my scores are in the low 700's (701 EQ, 706 TU, 731 EX). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The reporting is accurate. The card was charged off before you entered into a payment agreement. If you try to dispute, Chase will confirm it's a charged off account and on the update you'll take a hit for recent derogatory.

This. Unfortunately, by your own admission, the account went into a delinquent status and got subsequently charged off. Even though you've entered into an agreement to repay them, the charge off/delinquent status does NOT change. There's nothing to dispute, sorry.
