Paypal MC, but not mine

Here's the story...

Learning patience as we rebuild, so haven't applied for anything (been tempted, lol). I get an alert late last night from CK. A new inquiry on EQ for Sync/PPC. Knowing I haven't applied, I start my investigation. I finally get a rep on the phone at Paypal, that transfers me to a rep with Sync. Long story short, someone (not me), applied and was approved for a Paypal MC in my name. I was then connected to their Fraud dept, they asked a few questions, confirmed it was fraudulent, and shut down the account. They are sending me a letter stating the account was opened fraudulently, and they will be removing the inquiry from my EQ. I guess that's a WIN Smiley Wink

Jeez, might still want to file an ID Theft report on top of freezing all your CRs.

I was just saying on another thread that Credit Karma is good for exactly this sort of thing as a free service. It may not give you the most accurate credit score but these kinds of alerts more than make it worth all of their little ads, haha!
