In todays world with fraud being rampant, accounts being hacked. There is something you can do to help protect your account. When you log into paypal click on settings, 2 step verification and complete the set up process. What this option will do is send the mobile number on you profile with a 6 digit code. The code that is sent must be verified. Once it is verified the log in process is complete. This simply means if a hacker figures your user name and password the 2 step verification process will the block access. I have been setting this up with as many banks and companies I do business with as possible.
Yes, 2FA does give me a warm fuzzy feeling somewhat.. Is this topic just sort of a paypal 2FA PSA, helper sort of thing?
I don't use a smartphone for this stuff, but the TOTP works as expected via web browser also.
Nothing is 100% secure these days. You can do all thats neccesary to protect yourself. It still happens. Look at all the threads from BCU and others who got a fraud alerts. All my logins are fingerprint on my phone and desktop. Still someone tried to charge dry cleaning in a state 3000 miles away and Discover caught it. Do what makes you comfortable. There is no fool proof perfect scenario. Never ever had a problem with eBay since 1999, PayPal Credit , or the MC. I get the text code and login. 15 seconds.
..of course. I still lock my car door when I exit.
Sadly, stealing data is likely far easier than stealing a car.
