Penn Credit Corp- Palisades Collection, LLC- Please Help

Hi Everyone,

I have yet another credit challenge!  If I did not have bad luck I would have no luck at all.

I get home today to find a letter from Penn Credit Corporation.  The client is Palisades Collection, LLC and amount due is $175.08.

The money owed is for AT&T charge off date 2/06/2000 and service date 1/27/1999.

I honestly don't remember EVER having a cellphone with AT&T.  I have had Nextel/Sprint for more than 9 years.

I fully plan on disputing this wit the collection agency.

My question is this, when does a debt expire? Can they collect on something charged off since 2000? I live in Maryland.

Any suggestions on what letter I should use to dispute? 

First the nonesene with Verizon and now this.  Heck I don't want to lose my AMEX cards, you know they don't like this crap!  I can understand if the debt was mines, I would pay this is off NOW. But I am not giving away $175.00

one more question, can they report to the 3 CAs this debt even if I send them a letter standing this is not mines before the 30 days?

This is past 7.5 reporting SOL and more importantly past Maryland collecting SOL http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/cc/20040116b2.asp?caret=8    

If the actual and reported dates are accurate, send a simple cease and desist letter CMRRR.  No, that does not start the clock in this instance.

Anything currently on your CBRs is disputable as too old to report.

I am looking at the paper nowI wish I could scan but hubby tells me it's not working.

The last section of the letter states:

Service Rendered: AT&T Wireless Service

CHG OFF DATE: 2000/06/02

Service Date: 1999/01/27

Account number: 12222

Balance: $175.08

I remember this being on my credit reports at least 2 or 3 years ago. I would dispute this all the time. Finally it fell off my credit report.  Now I get this letter.

I am reading some of Noah's posts.  I am looking for a letter to use.  I want to spell it out for them that this is NOT mines and it's too **bleep** old to collect on.

Hello fellow Marylander - SOL is 3 years here.  Can't sue you even if it was yours.

LOOK at the dates 2000 + 7 = 2007 -  violation right there!  I wouldn't even respond (just ignore them totally) - they can do absolutely nothing to you.  A Cease and Desist would also be appropriate (very appropriate!!!!) Do NOT DV - just C&D

nice to meet another Marylander!  thank you all so very much.  you know my hubby forget to pay our last verizon bill and it is killing my credit scores!  i also canceled some rebuilder cards this year and got new credit credit cards to replace those cards.

the last thing I needed was this!

I am in Baltimore county, where you at?  I moved her about 10 years ago. I am from Louisiana.
