Piggybacking

Has anyone tried this process before and been sucessful? I don't have a problem getting credit. My scores are 615, 636, 628. However, I can't seem to get a credit card with a decent limit. I'm only getting limits of $400 or $500. I have a auto loan, mortgage and students loans that are deferred. I can't really use these credit cards because the limits are so small. Therefore, I was wondering if piggybacking will increase my score enough to qualify for a credit card with a large limit, let's say around $5,000.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Re: Piggybacking

Have you tried calling your existing credit card issuers and asking for a CLI (credit limit increase) rather than getting new cards?  If they say no, ask politely to speak with a supervisor.  If in the end you strike out, you haven't lost anything.  EXCEPT beware, some of the subprime cards (perhaps Apsire, HSBC or Orchard, can't remember which) actually charge you for a CLI request.

Re: Piggybacking

Yes I request a CLI for both cards and was only given $50 on one and $100 on the other (Tribute and HSBC) and one of them charged me a CLI fee. What a waste.
