Re: Please Proof/Correct/Change/Etc my Dispute Letter to CRA

the one mistake I saw was about Minn.  Statute of Limitations.   States SOL's and the allocated time for reporting to the CRA are two entirely different things.    Your state's SOL is time when the creditor is legally allowed to sue you in court.    the 7 years reporting time for CRA is just that.   State's SOL can be shorter than the CRA 7 years.

Re: Please Proof/Correct/Change/Etc my Dispute Letter to CRA

So, would it be better to leave the MN SOL out of the letter all together?
Or is there another way to state this type of SOL?

Re: Please Proof/Correct/Change/Etc my Dispute Letter to CRA

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!

I guess they are not past the 7 year SOL for reporting.
They are just past the 6 year SOL for State of MN.

So, I don't suppose that it would be helpful to dispute that....
"I believe these are past the SOL...."?

Re: Please Proof/Correct/Change/Etc my Dispute Letter to CRA

Honestly, I think bringing up the SOL might just annoy them so if they were inclined just to delete they may not.  Just my two cents.

Correct.. the State SOL means nothing in terms of the reporting SOL defined by the FCRA.

Re: Please Proof/Correct/Change/Etc my Dispute Letter to CRA

first thing I saw wrong was  "  am sending this dispute certified mail # ___________ to make sure you receive it"   you do not want to sound hostile, even if that wasn't your intention..   It can very well be taken in the wrong context and you want to work with them not have them already have a pre-conceived notion about you and your letter could find it's way to the bottom of the pile.

They already know it's a cert. letter no need to remind them and leave anything open to interpretation.
 I'd remove it.
