I had made arrangements with Portfolio Recovery back in Nov to settle on a debt that was charged off and sold to them, I was sure to receive in writing that once I completed my payments they would consider this account as settled. Heres exactly what the letter says.......
"If you complete this payment plan and our company is reporting our companiies tradeline for this account to the three major credit reporting agencies, our company will report this account as settled.
With that said, once I made my first payment they removed the tradeline from my credit reports, like I said that was 5 months ago and its still not showing, I was unaware of the PFD back then and I settled with them for like 1,007 on a 1,700 debt, I'm wondering if I should just keep paying and not contact them and see what happens once I'm finished paying, or should I contact them and ask them if our agreement is or can be changed to a PFD???
I'm just concerned that once I'm finished paying them, they will put it back on my CR's and have a "settled" listing on my reports which is still negative and will hurt my score. Or maybe they will not put it back on my reports??
What would you do?
IMO, I would stay quiet and not say anything. Contacting them would just cause undue attention to be brought to your account.
The reason I suggest this is because I have dealt with Portfolio Recovery before. They would not offer me a PFD, and stated that this was against their company policy. Maybe they would say something different to you, but I am thinking they would not.
Good luck

Thank you John, I was thinking the same thing (just stay quiet and hope they do not catch on) I'll just sit back make my payments and hope for the best.
Thanks again.
you could probably get away with not paying at this point. They probably found they couldn't find your file and deleted the TL... But honestly, I think everyone is happy to pay their debts in exchange for a better credit report! Keep payin!

It is a valid debt in which I defaulted, so I will continue to pay it, would have rather payed it to the OC but they sold it to the CA.
Thanks for the response.
