Problem with Direct TV; Help!!!

I recently ordered service with Direct; the problem is...during the initial ordering phase, I was told that before the order can be completed, I must agree to have Direct freeze $25 on my checking acct. for ten days to validate the account. Though I was suspicious, I agreed to it because my credit rating cleared me of having to pay a large deposit and installation charges with Direct; and I got a really great deal with the package I selected. However, I do not approve of anyone or any business having control of my account in this manner: reason...how do I know they will lift the freeze on the time stated in our conversation; that part was not in writing, and my bank account does not show it when I viewed it online. Although the amount is only $25, its still my money. So, I called Direct today to check and see when the freeze will been lifted because I want an actual date. The rep said it is to be ten days from the date of install; I told her I was told it was to be ten days from the date I ordered the service. There is a six day difference: service ordered 1/28, install took place on 2/3. Can anyone on this forum see the problem with this?? Being told one thing by one person and later something else by another person and they both work for the same company. I asked to speak to a supervisor, but the rep I spoke with today insisted that it would be ten to fifteen days for the freeze to lift. She said she would put in a request for someone in supervisor dept to call me back. I am looking forward to that call because I am determined that ten days is all I would allow on the freeze, and that was from the date I ordered the service; just as I was told initially.  If someone else has had this problem or can help me understand this issue, please do!

It isn’t anything to really worry about; it’s just a pre-authorization for $25. When my dad ordered service with DirecTV, his Visa check card from our credit union was held for 3-5 days and we were able to see the pending item and amount. It will be released soon, just give it some time. Some banks/credit unions may hold pre-authorizations longer than others.

Hi rosa...honestly, I wouldn't get upset over this. I understand your frustration, but it is not uncommon to be told two different things when speaking with these huge companies. Often times it's not that anyone is being deceptive. They just don't know. Or, they think they know, and give you incorrect information.

You will get the $25 unfrozen, it's a matter of a few days difference. It's up to you whether to spend your time and energy on arguing over those few days. Good luck!

Re: Problem with Direct TV; Help!!!

Thank you guys for responding; I was worried about deception because, if you haven't noticed, its very common these days. Anyway, since no one has responded negatively about this issue, I guess there is nothing to really worry about. Thanks again!

Re: Problem with Direct TV; Help!!!

Rosa,

This happens to me when I have ordered from JCPenney, sears or anywhere else online. One time JC penney took out $82 for the order immediately, it then disappeared altogether from my account, then it showed up when the order was filled. That's good that Direct TV only did the $25, it would have probably been more on my part, lol...Keep watching.
