Process credit card payment as atm or debit card?

I'm just curious as to what this means?  I have the option when I make certain CC payments to "process as ATM".  Is there any benefit to this?

You would not want to do that as it most likely would result in a cash advance and not a purchase.

Ok. Thanks. I never even gave that a thought. I was thinking if processed as a debit or atm, the payment would skip the "pending" process and go straight to "posted".

Merchants benefit by debit transactions because the processing fees for a debit transaction are a lot less than for credit.

Doesnt affect you at all, just is cheaper on the merchant is all.
