Pulling back

It's been fun running the apps and watching the scores but I'm starting to recognize a little too much emotional investment in the scores.

Realistically knowing my credit scores don't have much value for me. We are in a short term mortgage (5 years left) at 2 3/8% and I can get a car loan with a phone call to my local Credit Union and they don't even pull a credit report ( 35 year history counts more, well unless it was a $120K Porsche). God knows I have enough credit cards to last me the rest of my life. Actually enough to buy 2 of those Porsches- scary.

Knowing all this I'm still reacting to minor (6 point) drops in the scores like they are a major event in my life. This reminds me of why I don't gamble. Losing bothers me more than the rush I get from winning.

I canceled the tracking that I had ( due to a hack at the end of last year on one of my accounts) and disabled the alerts.

I do intend to stay active on the forums since I've started getting attached to some of you and your stories. I just won't be checking my scores regularly.

The main reason I am posting this is in case someone else is starting to feel the the same way, this might give them a perspective on it.

There are a  lot of great people on this forum and I've really enjoyed it and look forward to hanging around. I may even do some more apps eventually.

Re: Pulling back

With scores you cant sweat the small moves and I consider +- 20 points small and not unusual. You just have to make up your mind that the small stuff doesnt mean much and go from there or you can drive yourself nuts. Good luck in your continued journey Smiley Happy

Re: Pulling back

Like anything else don't sweat the small stuff.  Scores will fluctuate a bit by a few points so under a certain theshold it is definitely not worth worrying over and each has to determine whatever he/she needs to do to handle matters in a way that works for the individual.  I always recommend focusing on the data in the reports versus obsessing over the numbers anyway given the different scoring models used by the creditors.

Re: Pulling back

I understand exactly what you mean. Unfortunately I'm in the rebuilding process and still have to deal with the stress.

Hopefully one day I can rebound from this addiction.
