Re: Question about CA .

You sure can GW either.  I'd start with the CA since you paid them.  Is anything reporting from the OC?  If so GW that too.

If you don't get results with the CA, try the OC if they had not sold off the account at the time you paid.  If no one responds to the first attempt... keep up the GWs to the CA every month or two.

Re: Question about CA .

Hi Hi-All. Welcome.

We have our own language here. Many abbreviations. OC = Original Creditor; CA = Collection Agency.

See the thread at top of page "Guide to Common Abbreviations", or something like that:

http://ficoforums.myfico.com/fico/board/message?board.id=generalcredit&thread.id=52625

Quite often, An OC will actually sell the account to a CA. In which case the OC is taken completly out of the picture, and you must deal directly with the CA.

Hope that answers your question.

Re: Question about CA .

Hi Sylviatob

Thanks for ur reply & info..I read that abbrevations already.
Importantly we paid the balance amt to the OC(ie.OK state Univ), not to the CA.
In this case can we GW  CA or OC?
More over Nobody contacted us from CA about this payment?

waiting for the reply.

Thanks&Regards

Re: Question about CA .

Hello again. Have a good friend that went to OSU. Lives around Lawton.

In this case you should definitely GW the OC. If OSU still indeed owned the account, they need to send to CA instructions to delete the baddie from your CR, IF the CA was the one who put it on there.

Hope that helps.

Re: Question about CA .

Many here on the forum recommending that it should be in the form of a letter, via U.S.P.S.

Some have had luck getting a late removed over the phone. Many have with the letter method.

In all honesty, I've never tried the mail approach, and my one and only 1 phone GW didnt work. Smiley Sad It was with Cap1.

Perhaps others will chime in on their preferred method.

Are you still in OK? I'm in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area.
